5° Day – From Fiume to Carlopago

Fifth stage of our Eurovelo 8 under finally drier weather or so we thought. Departure from Rijeka towards …. unknown! In reality we had two alternatives, the first, to make a short stage of about 70/80, the second to venture up to Carlopago covering almost 130km even today. At the time of departure we didn’t know which one to choose even if in reality the decision had already been made.

Always pedal, getting closer and closer to your destination to have time to manage any unexpected events, which we hope don’t happen. In fact, this too was a long stage on the rugged mountains of the Croatian coast which ended with the arrival in Karlobag under pouring rain and strong winds that accompanied us for the last 70 – 80km
